The social-cognitive theory focuses on influences of other people and how they affect each other. This theory reflects a person’s personality internally and externally and the interaction between the two. Reciprocal determinism states that behavior is influenced by environment and personal factors which is the basis of this theory started by Albert Bandura.

There are many things that go together to form this theory. The internal and external locus of control contribute to an individual and how their life is controlled. A person with an internal locus of control believes that he controls his life and the situations that happen. While a person with an external locus of control believes that their life is not in their control. Learned helplessness is simply the fact that a person feels helpless and unable to change different aspects of life. A person can get to this point through experience where they just give up and feel like they can’t do anything to change a bad situation. Attributional style is also known as explanatory style which is the way that a person blames negative situations. People can either blame themselves for being the reason for certain problems or blame others to be the source.
This theory lacks consideration for people and their development and maturation stages of life. Hormones have an affect on your body and this theory doesn’t take this into account. This theory is also criticized because people change especially and people act different around certain people so they could have two different personalities.
